Flexibility & Support - Having used Touchdown for over 1.5 years now I can say that the level of customer support is second to none. The service they provide us at Reverb is invaluable; our clients simply maintain a constant UK number to call, while the final destination can be global, whether fixed line or mobile. The speed of call delivery is remarkably quick considering the networks covered. The system enables Reverb to work from any office, client premises or on-the-road, while maintaining all important client interaction. In addition, the call handling service is an added bonus that keeps the 'human' touch in an ever-increasing world of digital technology. Versatility - When I joined Quantum as a business development specialist and set up my home office I didn't want to have the added expense of installing 2 extra phone lines - one for voice and one for fax - so i used 0845 numbers insteadand pointed them to my home number.
The problem I found was that I could not distinguish between a work call and a private call so I didn't know what greeting to use. This meant that I didn't want anyone else in my family to answer the phone during work hours
After a lot of searching I finally found a solution with Touchdown. Since August 2004 I have had my numbers routed through to their system.
When I pick up the phone and it's a work call the call is announced electronically as "Call for Quantum, press hash to accept". If the line is busy or I'm not at homeand my family answer the phone and hear this message they just hang up. The call is then routed to a Touchdown "live" Receptionist who then takes a messages and then emails and text's it to me. However this could be routed through to any answering service or even a colleague when I am on holiday.
My 0845 fax number goes straight to their "fax to email" service, which is forwarded to my inbox. I still use a fax machine for outgoing fax for flexibility.
There are lots of call handling providers but Touchdown is the only one I found who could announce the call electronically before choosing to accept it. This means you only pay their "live" Receptionist if your line is busy, unanswered or you reject the call. You don't have to keep updating preference either.
